Some folks have already heard, but for those who have not: Douglass Street Music Collective will cease its performance activities after August 31st. The collective can remain in the space for the time being and use it for rehearsing, but we will have to almost certainly vacate the premises in the next 4-12 months. I want to thank everyone who’s come out and supported us for the past 8 years by performing at the space and attending shows there. We’ve had a better and longer run of it than I would have anticipated. If you hear of any new spaces our collective could move to, let me or other DSMC members know. We’d like to keep this kind of musician-run venue going.
In the meantime, several members are throwing down with some great shows this month to send the place out in style. I’ll be hosting an evening with Kevin Diehl on Aug. 16 where I’ll be playing duo with Chad Edward Taylor as well as another evening for Vinny Golia on Aug. 13 and finally there’ll be a 4-night residency for the great Jim Hobbs from the 20th through the 23rd.
