New York, I think it’s time you and I spent some time apart from each other. I think we both saw this coming. I think with a little space and time we’ll find that old spark that’s been missing for a while. So I’m packing my things and taking off for a bit. But don’t worry, I’ll be back. Just to prove it, I’ll leave my saxophone with you. I’m only going to need my bass clarinet for this trip…

Heading out next week to play a string of shows in Europe with the Nate Wooley Quintet. Very, very, VERY excited for this. We (Nate, myself, Matt Moran, Eivind Opsvik and Harris Eisenstadt) are going to play a string of shows in Europe stretching from Oslo down to Padua in Italy. We’ll be working on the new book of tunes, “(Dance to) The Early Music.” It’s a reworking of songs from Wynton Maraslis’ early catalog (Wynton Marsalis, Codes from the Black Underground and J Mood). If you’re out there (check the calendar for where the shows are) or know anyone who is, come and check it out. It’ll be different.
